A Good Start

First round pick Andrew McCutchen does not seem intimidated by his first taste of pro ball. In his first ten games, the high school product was raking it at a .382 clip, with 19 total bases and drawing more walks (8) than strikeouts (5). That doesn't even include the five for five (with two doubles and triple) day he put in yesterday (thanks to BA's Kevin Goldstein's daily Prospect Report for the heads up).

Obviously it is the Gulf Coast League, and a small sample size to boot. Still, it is an encouraging start, especially with the lack of high-ceiling offensive prospects in the system. I wouldn't be surprised to see McCutcheon in a Williamsport uniform by the end of the summer.
